From Eye Push-Ups To Asanas: In WFH, Eye Yoga Is The Latest Fitness Trend
Increased screen time due to extended work hours, binge-watching and limited outdoor activity during the pandemic is leading many people to focus more than ever on their eye health. As a result, eye yoga has emerged as a popular fitness trend. It helps in strengthening eye muscles and is highly recommended by experts, keeping in mind the increase in screen time.
Eye yoga is an essential part of every corporate yoga session
Dryness in eyes, itchiness and headache are common problems that most people are facing while working long hours from home, say yoga experts. Sonika Uppal, a yoga trainer, has been regularly taking yoga sessions for corporates. “When these corporate companies approach me for a yoga session they specifically mention that they need some simple to follow asanas for eyes, spine, and neck problems. These three are the problem areas and I have been suggesting people that like our body, our eyes also need specific movements to stay in good condition. I often suggest them to practice ‘eye push ups’ – a simple act of looking up and focusing on an object.” Yoga expert Abhishek Otwal shares, “In each yoga session I spend roughly 20-25 minutes on eye yoga. Even till last year, people were not very serious about it, but now they are aware of what eye yoga is and how it can help maintain your eye health.
